Says drummer Tony Caliendo, "We got the pig in Chicago, and brought in a real parachuter to repair it, because it's made from parachute materials. I thought he'd bring in a little sewing machine. But he came with a truckload of equipment, like he was going to build a house. That pig went through rehab for a full week!"

What Pink Voyd will do with the pig is a surprise, but they'll be taking the trophy to shows Friday and Saturday, April 17-18, at Plymouth Memorial Hall in Plymouth, and Friday, April 25, at the Mullins Center in Amherst.

That's not the only original Floyd coming from the group. Unique among tribute bands, Pink Voyd uses no backing tracks or CDs playing in the background. They play everything from scratch with only four musicians, each talented on several instruments. This frees them from a robotic "click track," and lets them interact with the crowd with intensity and timing. The energy is boosted higher by life-size puppets, 30 robotic lights, and a world-class laser light show by an expert fresh from the 2008 world Rush tour.

After a brief hiatus, New England's own Pink Floyd cover band is back on the road. Pink Voyd will be playing Plymouth Memorial Hall on Friday and Saturday, April 17 and 18. Tickets start at $22.50 and are on sale now.

Pink Voyd's eerily familiar voices and amazing synth sounds have thrilled audiences from Six Flags to the Hard Rock Café. "I thought that I was actually listening to the real band," said fan Howie B. of a recent show.

The band may be true to Pink Floyd's sound, but their own excellent musicianship still shines through. Band members switch instruments from song to song, sometimes even playing more than one instrument at a time. They also play without a click track, allowing them to create the pregnant pauses and tempo changes characteristic of the original Floyd's music. Says one fan of seeing them live, "It was one of the best shows I have ever seen. I really think Pink Floyd themselves would have to commend you on how well you represent them."
